Sacred Treasures III: Choral Masterworks from Russia and Beyond

“The sublime tradition of Russian sacred choral music began with the Byzantine chants and evolved to full harmonic magnificence in the late 19th century. In the great mixed choirs, earthy and ethereal voices join in ardent prayers of devotion and transcendent invocations of ‘Amen!’ and ‘Alleluia!’ Perhaps even more than its best-selling predecessor, this collection of choral masterworks by Rachmaninov, Rimsky-Korsakov, Komitas, Bach and others ‘sets the soul soaring beyond worldly cares.’”
