“The longest continuous body of the Lord’s teachings recorded in the New Testament is known popularly as the Sermon on the Mount. Several years ago Bishop Dmitri published a commentary on this famous Sermon as a series of essays in his diocesan newspaper, The Dawn. He now offers us these essays in unified and edited form under the title: The Kingdom of God. In them he calls the Sermon on the Mount ‘more than the “Magna Carta of the Kingdom,”’ and ‘more than the “Manifesto of the King,”’ but rather ‘the direct encounter of the human race with revealed truth.’ This latter perception stands implicitly as a point of reference for many other of the conclusions drawn by the author.” —“Foreword”
