Saints from All Walks of Life: Brief Homilies on the Lives of the Saints

Augoustinos N. Kantiotes
Translated by Father Asterios Gerostergios

“Proof that the Church is eternal and universal, and that those who think that the saints lived only in ‘previous ages’ and only as monastics are incorrect, is found in this book by Metropolitan Augoustinos of Florina. Its title is indicative of its contents: Saints from All Walks of Life. It contains short homilies on the lives of certain saints. Not only did these saints work in a variety of occupations but they lived in different eras. These saints from various occupations are examples for Christians of our times. One’s occupation is not an obstacle to holiness, provided it is neither illegal nor sinful. Whatever decent and useful occupation a Christian has, he can become holy. He must be honest and conscientious in his professional obligations and in his Christian duties.”
