Fancy Prayer Ropes

These prayer ropes (komboschoinia or chotki) are produced by the sisters of various convents in Greece. Sale of these items helps in the support of these convents. The knots are hand-tied, usually from a smooth floss material that has a beautiful sheen, but sometimes from wool. Each knot is made up of nine crosses. The tassels are beaded.
