Elder Paisios the Hagiorite, the Friend of Children

told by Cătălin Grigore
illustrated by Adela Maria Calistru
translated by Alexandra Grigore

A volume of Iona Publishing House Collection

“Little Arsenios was born on the 25th of July, 1924, in the village of Farasa, in today’s Turkey. His parents and all the inhabitants of the village were Greeks, who had been living for hundreds of years among the Turkish people, and were often mocked by them for their Christian Orthodox faith. In the year Arsenios was born, all the inhabitants of Farasa were forced to abandon their homes and to leave for Greece. This journey was very difficult and Arsenios was only two months old at that time. He had just been baptized by the Righteous Arsenios the Cappadocian, a great saint of our Church and wonderworker.”
